FAQs

What’s the difference between coaching and therapy?

Counseling (or therapy) focuses on healing emotional pain, trauma, or mental health issues, and is usually long-term. It's great for exploring the past and working through deeper issues.

Coaching is more present- and future-focused. It’s about setting goals, building confidence, and creating change in your life. Coaching doesn’t treat mental health conditions and isn’t a substitute for therapy.

What can I expect at the free consultation?

The free consultation is a 30–45 minute televideo session where we explore what you’re looking for support with, discuss your goals, and see if we’re a good fit. You’ll have space to ask questions and get a feel for my approach, whether you’re interested in coaching or counseling.

No pressure, no prep needed—just come as you are.

Do you offer virtual sessions only?

Yes. All sessions—both coaching and counseling—are offered virtually through a secure video platform, so you can meet with me from the comfort of your own space.

How long will I need coaching or counseling?

That depends on your goals. Some people see progress in a few sessions, while others prefer ongoing support. We’ll check in regularly to make sure the work feels helpful and aligned with what you need.

What if I'm struggling with both relationship issues and past trauma?

That’s very common. If you’re located in Maryland, we can explore that through counseling using trauma-informed approaches. If you’re outside Maryland and working with me as a coach, we’ll stay focused on present-day goals while being mindful of emotional patterns. I’ll also let you know if therapy might be more appropriate.

Is everything I share confidential?

Yes, confidentiality is very important. For therapy clients in Maryland, I follow all legal and ethical guidelines to protect your privacy. For coaching clients, while the same laws don’t apply, I treat your information with the same respect and care. Everything you share stays between us, unless there’s a risk of harm.

Do you offer evening or weekend appointments?

Yes, I offer limited evening and weekend slots. Feel free to ask about availability during your consultation.

Can I switch from coaching to counseling (or vice versa)?

If you’re located in Maryland, switching from coaching to counseling is possible if your needs shift. If you’re outside Maryland, I can refer you to a licensed therapist in your state if therapy becomes more appropriate.

Is there homework or things to do between sessions?

Often, yes. Whether it’s journaling, reflection, or small action steps, I offer between-session practices to help deepen your growth. But nothing overwhelming—you always have a say in what feels manageable.

Do you offer packages or just pay-per-session?

Yes, I offer both. You can choose individual sessions or discounted packages if you're looking for more consistent support. We’ll go over all the options during your consultation
